You've probably seen those signs and t-shirts and bumper stickers, etc. that read something like... "I'd rather be fishing." I think that's the most common one that I've ever seen. So here goes. Since I can't be doing these particular things at the moment...so for now, I'd rather be blogging... :)
I'd rather be taking pictures...
With the beautiful weather and blue skies and vibrant colors out there this week, I'd love to be out driving around finding things to photograph. I know a certain little group of people who were planning to do that today, but since it's a week day...well, here I am at work, instead. Boo.

I'd rather be scrapbooking...
I've been buying a lot of scrapbooking materials in the last month or so, preparing for this year's fair circuit. :) And with all the Dakota pictures I've been taking lately (since they are the only kind I am able to get taken these days...well, Dakota and cats!), I have a ton of ideas for themed pages floating around in my head. Thanks to my new-found interest in Pinterest, I've been finding new and fresh ideas (for me, anyway) for layouts and decorative ideas for pages. It doesn't help that last night I looked at all of the pages Sarah has already completed for this year's fairs, either. I loved looking at her pages...but it just made me want to work on mine even more! And well, here I am at work, instead. Boo.

I'd rather be playing on Pinterest...
I absolutely positively am hooked on this site. For those who don't know what it is, it's more or less a virtual bulletin board. You can "pin" things on your boards (themes of your choice). They can be ideas that you came up with, ideas that you might want to try, recipes, photographs, etc. Basically, you name it...you can pin it. For example...I have a lot of boards. I have some idea boards for scrapbook pages, baking, crafts, etc. So far I have just searched within Pinterest for these things and when I find something I like, I "repin" it to my boards. I also have boards for my own photography, music artists, books I have read, so on and so forth. I stole the idea of creating a dream house board, too. I have noticed that a LOT of people have some variation of one, so I decided I had to have one, too. But I couldn't just have ONE dream house! Nope. I have a board for my dream log cabin, dream beach house, dream tree house, and dream cottage! It's a lot of fun finding cool things and layouts to put on those boards! I could spend hours playing around with Pinterest, and well, here I am at work. Boo.
I'd rather be doing genealogy research...
I recently spent the money on a paid subscription to Ancestry.com, again. I've paid for it off and on over the years. This time it's for 6 months, so I am making myself use it more often, to get my money's worth this time. I started a bunch of family trees for friends a few years ago, while I was unemployed. Back then I had a ton of time to devote to it. I loved learning about my friend's ancestors, and then turning around and informing them of the things I would find. Unfortunately, I eventually got to where I just didn't have the time I wanted to devote to it. Now that I have a laptop (thanks again Doris Ann!), I am able to sit in my bedroom and do research...while petting Lincoln and watching things I've got on my DVR. Makes it a lot easier to get back into! Also, since it's been so long since I've really dived in with it, there are a lot more records out there waiting to be found. I would love to be adding people to family trees, and well, here I am at work. Boo.
I'd rather be indexing historical documents...
This week, I started what they call "indexing". It's through the Latter Day Saints genealogy website, but I know that Ancestry.com has the same type thing available. I just happened to pick this one, because I saw an ad for it. Anyway....I downloaded their software to my computer. After that, I am able to download "batches" of documents...there is a list to choose what kind of docs you want, from what's available for indexing at this time. So you download the batch...then you just fill in all the boxes that it asks you to fill in, while you look at the historical document. When done, you submit your batch back to the site...and eventually your data is available for online searches. The first night I did it, some of the docs I worked on were... a page of the 1871 England Census, Texas death records from 1919, Texas birth records from 1932, WWI enlistment records from Alabama, and enlistment records from North Carolina for the War of 1812. It was so much fun, because I'm a dork and love that kind of thing. I wish I could be doing it right now, and well, here I am at work. Boo.

Now that I've managed to kill a little bit of time, there is half an hour left to my work day. Then I'll go home and start up the laptop. And well, then it will be time for bed. Boo.
